I sent money to my friend a while ago. The status on my end is “money sent”. My friend said she can’t access the money on her paypal account . So, what this status “ money sent” actually means? And if she can’t access the money, I would like to have them back ( it is been over 180 day). What should be our steps now?

Is she a real friend??

Only scammers get you to send the money using the friends/family option because they know you have 0 buyer protection sending funds that way.

Then they can ignore you and 'pretend' they have not received or cannot access their account.

Payment SENT means it has successfully transferred to the email address linked to the paypal account of the receiver.

However if she is a real friend but her account is permanently limited then IF paypal said she could withdraw the funds after 180 days but she has not heard from them, then she would have to contact customer services to ask.

Thank you very much for your answer. Maybe you could give me some more advice on how to check if she received / withdraw the money or actually having real difficulties with it ? She is a real person , and I actually received my part of the deal with her. It is just she claims she could never access the funds on paypal on her end . She did my part of the deal anyway, just because we are friends. Well .. I quess it is ok.. I just hate that the money now just “hanging “ somewhere now , and none of us can’t access it anymore . I wonder if there is a way to find out what happened with my money on her end? Thanks a lot!

It means you successfully sent a friends/family payment which completed to the email address / paypal account you sent it to.

Are you sure its a real friend, only scammers use that option to get you to send payments knowing if they pretend they didn't get it that you can't file a dispute as you have no buyer protection.
