Paypal Spotify charges

So, I have my "preferred" payment method through Paypal for Spotify set up as being a specific debit card. But last month, I noticed that since the debit card had insufficient funds, it took payment from a card that was NOT set as a "preferred" method.

Is there a way to prevent this? I use a couple different cards for other bills, but hate it when Spotify/Paypal decide to randomly charge cards not set as a preferred payment method.

Doesn't help that Spotify decided to start randomly charging for two months worth of service at a time.

Read the links below, it's sorta weird how it says back up payment and preferred payment method is adjusted with the same way but you can change the payment method for the recurring payment as instructed in the first link at the automatic payment profile level before payment is charged for the service period if you can catch it in time.  Never seen an option to stop/decline the charge from going through if there is insufficient funds or to prevent it because that can't be determined unless a charge is put through and by that time, it'll be too late if your account is insufficient. It is always our responsibility as users to ensure funds are available.
