What is "Direct Debit; Pay Pal, Inst Xfr, Paymerchant"?

I have a charge of $44.51 on my bank account. I looked at my Pay Pal account of which my bank is attached to and I do not see any charges that this would apply to. It was charged this morning and I cannot for the life of me think at all where this would come from. I went through my browser history to see if I made any charges and I did not.

What's weird is the vagueness of the item line. It doesn't give a specific merchant it just says "Paymerchant" so I am wondering if anyone else has had this issue? I contacted my bank and they said they cannot locate where the purchase came from and I also contacted Pay Pal and they said they do not see anything on their end as well.

What is payment merchant?

Merchant” is a term used by payment processors to refer to their customers. Customers, or merchants, are businesses that accept credit card payments from their clients in-person, online, or over the phone.

So if you bought something online with a debit or credit card and didn't log into your Paypal account then of course it won't show on that Paypal account because you bought as a guest buyer.
However your seller may have processed that payment using their Paypal 'card reader' and so Paypal would show on your bank or card statement.

If that is not the case then contact customer services and your card issuer to query the transactions.

You don't have Paypal buyer protection cover as a guest buyer but you can contact customer services and they may be able to assist you by reaching out to the seller for you.
So If you need help for a guest buyer transaction then you can;

1. Phone Paypal customer services and see if they will help you.
OR
2. Contact your card issuer for a chargeback.
