Will PayPal notify me about a refund?

I purchased an item on Grailed & the buyer said he didn't realize he would cost so much to ship so he said he refunded my money, I know it may take a long time to actually have this money back in my account, but will PayPal notify me as soon as he issued the refund through email or on my account? If I received no notification or email from PayPal, does this mean he's lying and didn't issue the refund?

You should get an email to say a refund has been issued, takes seconds to issue a refund.

It may show as on temp hold or pending IN your paypal balance depending on how you funded that payment and how the seller funded the refund.
