sending money to friend, how do I stop eCheque method?

I have tried sending money to a friend using my confirmed-linked bank account but it keeps sending as eCheque, the funds are available in my bank account and still it sends as eCheque?
Is there a way I can change this in future payments?

I know it's possible to send money to a friend instantly and it not be debited from my bank account for 2/3 working days as per the direct debit agreement but how do I stop it being sent as eCheque as they take 5-7 working days?

Please help and advise!

Transfers from bank accounts are never instant, that is why when you buy something paypal credit the seller for you and paypal take the wait for the funds to transfer to pay them back again, this is so you get your item without delay.

Takes 5-7 working days to transfer as Paypal use the slowest (cheapest) transfer option BUT funds normally leave your bank account from a few hours up to a few days later.

However they only take that 'risk' if you pay...

1. Bank transfer but have a back up card linked to your account as well.
2. Debit or credit card.
If you have option 1 but have no back up card linked then your payment may go as an echeque and you and the seller will have to await clearance.

Also for some 'personal' payments / high risk transaction or if Paypal decides to do so then an echeque is issued instead of it being instant and you take the wait this time for it to clear.

I understand that, and I have always paid before.

My friend has sent money to me before via paypal from her bank account the same as I have just tried, and it doesn't leave her bank account for 2/3 working days and it doesn't send as eCheque for her?

I am just wondering how do I stop this happening in future? Is there a setting I can change or something to avoid it being sent as eCheque or should I contact paypal directly on this matter via phone as its causing issues getting the money to her when she needs it.

If you have an in date card linked to your account then there is nothing else you can do.

Paypal decides at the time of the transaction whether to send it as an echeque or not.

However would it not be easier to ditch Paypal and use instant bank transfer instead?
