Cannot Link Paypal Cashback Mastercard to Paypal

Hi all,

I just received my new Paypal Cashback World Mastercard that's activated. I have just used it to purchase something. However, I cannot link it to my paypal account or select it as a default payment option (it shows already in the Preferred way to pay list). But when I select it and confirm, it says "This can’t be used as your preferred way to pay online. Choose a different payment method."

I have called paypal and the credit card lines but they both say nothing is wrong with either ends.

STEP 1: Link from your PayPal dashboard. Once you've logged in, look for the Link a card button on your account dashboard and click on it.

STEP 2: Enter your credit or debit card details.

STEP 3: Add new credit or debit card.

I know how to link a credit card. It's just his paypal mastercard that doesn't link.

Thank you for joining the PayPal Community! I'm sorry to hear you're running into some issues with your Cashback Mastercard. I pulled the following information from the Help Center article What is the PayPal Cashback Mastercard?
 

"Upon approval, in most cases, you can start using your virtual card account right away through your account with PayPal wherever PayPal is accepted.

When you receive your card in the mail, you can call to activate using the number provided, scan the QR code provided and follow the prompts, or visit paypal.com/cashbackcardactivation.

Your card is added automatically to your account with PayPal. When making a purchase with PayPal, just choose your PayPal Cashback Mastercard as your payment source. "

With that in mind, you wouldn't be able to add it as a traditional credit card to your account since it's already added to your account when you activate it.

I’m having this same issue tonight. I’ve selected my new PayPal reward MasterCard as preferred payment but when using PayPal to pay eBay shipping costs, the funds are being taken from my PayPal balance instead of the reward MasterCard.
