I do not understand the charity part of PayPal

Hello helpful folk,

I would like to get my charity using paypal, but I have to be able to explain it really clearly to the trustees to get the go ahead.

We own and run a village hall (We hire it out and run our own events there) with all monies going to the charity for the hall.

Thus I ask the following:

1) If I have a group who wants to use my hall, and we charge £10/hr normally - how would this change if they paid using Paypal ( I don't understand the rates part)

2) If I have a reader and use it at events for the entrance 'fee' or suchlike, can I have a fixed payment amount on it (say £5) and how easy is it to change that amount?

3) Can I have more than one reader in use with different amount on it.

We currently do a lot with cash, and I want to change that and bring up kicking and screaming into the 21st Century

Hello @PinkFlamingor

Welcome to the PayPal Community! Thanks for thinking of PayPal for your payment solution. These are all great questions.

1. There are a different set of fees if you're using the Zettle Card reader or accepting payments just through your PayPal account. Here are links to explain the fees for Zettle and PayPal. You're not charged for both for one transaction, you'd just be charged the fee for the respective product.

2 and 3. You would actually set up different "products" through the Zettle app with different amounts attached to them. Here's a link to an article detailing how to Add and Manage Products

I hope that helps and good luck with your future transactions!
