I changed my phone number after starting my Venmo account. My new phone number is linked to somebody else's Venmo account, and Venmo refuses to fix the problem. I sent proof in the form of phone bills but they wouldn't release the number. I had to delete the account because I can't trust an app with such useless customer service. Not to mention a stranger was linked to that account after the number changed. I'm wondering if there is another app that provides the same service? One that has employees that can use a computer well enough to change a phone number?
PayPal cannot simply change a phone number on someone else’s account regardless if the account is fake or not for security reasons. Talk to your phone company to assign you a new number, more like. It could have been spoofed or something for all you know.
PayPal had no problem changing my phone number, because it's my phone number and my account. I know PayPal owns Venmo so the reason Venmo can't is unclear to me. I'm not going to change my phone number because Venmo can't do what every other website can do. I don't need Venmo bad enough to change my number.
