Nonexistent $10 PayPal "reward"?

"We’ve added a $10 reward to your account" from an official PayPal email, reward / payment cannot be found anywhere, "View reward" and "terms" buttons lead to a blank PayPal dashboard.

Email text:

Hi (Name),

As a thank you for being a valued PayPal customer, we’ve added a $10 reward to your account. This will expire on December 31, 2021.

This amount will be automatically applied to your next eligible purchase when you checkout with PayPal. Once redeemed, this will be reflected on your PayPal receipt or in your PayPal transaction details.

I just made an online purchase today for exactly $10, but it was taken from my bank account directly, even though this email clearly says this would be the exact amount taken off of my purchase. I used the "My PayPal Account" option, but it did not even take that from my PayPal account. Am I missing something, or was this erroneous?

Again, it does not bring me to anything other than my default / blank dashboard when I click "View reward" or the hyperlink on "See offer terms."

I received the same email. When I clicked the link, initially it went to a seemingly non PayPal site, and then redirected to PayPal login page. I don't know if this is really legit promotion, or it's a phishing.

FYI, I opened a ticket with PayPal yesterday and they gave me a $10 credit.  Be sure to attach a copy of the email you received.

Thanks for posting this and updating us on your situation! Did PayPal confirm that it is a legit email? Before finding your post here, I was seeing a lot of other Google results for phishing emails claiming to give $5-$10 rewards. The email I received didn't match those phishing emails but seems to match the one I got with the exact wording about an eligible purchase.

ATTENTION!

I contacted support and have been informed that this is a scam! DO NOT CLICK any links or login from the email! Contact support (and change your password) RIGHT AWAY if you've logged in through an email like this!

Furthermore, if you have reason to believe something is a scam, forward the scam email to spoof@paypal.com

I'm going to secure my account now, I thought I was tech savvy, but even that fooled me. BE CAREFUL WITH EMAILS!

This is a scam. I fell for it too. PayPal only sends emails from the domain paypal.com ... My scam email was from mail.paypal.com

I attempted to use the reward and nothing ever was reduced by $10. So I searched and found this post smh

Please forward your email to spoof@paypal.com
