Pay Monthly and Credit

I was looking into doing the new pay monthly installments but I am skeptical due to it affecting my credit.

Welcome to the PayPal Community! Are you inquiring about PayPal's Pay in 4 option? If so, I found this at the bottom of their main page: "When applying, a soft credit check may be needed, but will not affect your credit score."

NO the OP meant PayPal Monthly, that's different from 4 payments installments. does it affect credit score? do they pull hard check?

There is a credit check when you apply to use Pay Monthly installments. You can learn more about the application process and how the loan is reported to your credit on our Help Center.
