Why did I get denied pay in 4 when I am in good standing?

I'm extremely confused and pretty **bleep** off that I got denied pay in 4 for a purchase when I have used the pay in 4  only twice this year, made all on time payments with it, 5 months apart for each transaction,  with no pending balance on my pay pal account, and  I have a credit score over of 720?  Does anyone know why this may happen? Literally the only debt I have are my student loans,  I am in good standing for all  my accounts, never had an overdraft in my life,  and I was approved for two purchases with pay in 4 twice before?  This doesn't make any sense!

Hi @bamouton,

Thank you for contacting PayPal community. Please be advised that the option for Pay in 4 is not decided by us. It is an internal automated process. If you get this option at checkout, you will be able to use it. If not, you will not be able to use it. It does not depend on any merchant site or the merchant. You may get this option once on the merchant's site and may not get the other time when you try to purchasePlease visit the link for more information about how Pay in 4 works

Thank you.

Hi @kiran55 ,

Is it true that you need to have the money in your paypal wallet in order to use the Pay in 4 feature?

I am having the same issue. Used the service, have been offered to use it again at numerous transactions, met the criteria but then it wont go through and i have to pay in full..

Hello @baaloo,

Welcome! When using Pay in 4, you chose a payment method to charge the first payment of your Pay in 4 application. From there, your 3 subsequent repayments will be taken automatically from the payment method you provided at the time of your application. Currently, your PayPal balance can't be used for repayments.

I hope that helps!
