Yes, do the right thing and go for something else. Terminal is waste of time and money. I already gave up and selected something else.

We just experienced the same issue. Our terminal is kept safe, dry, and well padded in transport and is never mishandled or dropped. It has no damage and is now a brick. We will be looking for a different payment processor if Paypal can't help. It's almost brand new.

Same experience as others here. My terminal was in storage over the winter, in its original packaging. On powering it up today (24-04-24) I got the following:
Security Alert
CODE: 2
SENSORS: BL
DATE: 19-04-24. 15:51:41
The security sensor on your Terminal has been activated and the device is now locked. Please call Zettle customer service.
Judging from what others say, calling Customer Service will be a waste of time. Let's see...

We are a non profit that one weekend, every year need our terminals. Rest of the year they are in a box.
Powering them up this time showed that 4 of the 8 terminals are now locked, same code as threadstarter.
Customer support is telling me: tough luck, buy new ones.
Im amazed how its possible to treat customers like this. Ill never get a zettle again.

I sadly join you all in your frustration. I've just returned back to working from maternity leave and turned on my zettle unit two days before a booking for a wedding. (I'm a mobile bar provider). I received the same security code. I managed with my older zettle terminals as customer service was closed for the weekend.i just got off the phone to customer service this afternoon and they have stated that the device is unfixable and the code is a fault that I have not caused. She stated it was not my fault or Zettles fault and something that can happen with technology and needs to be replaced.
I thought my problem was solved and felt pleased until it became apparent that zettle was not replacing it for me. I was advised that because I purchased the device in 2022 it is out of warranty and so they could only offer me a discount and not a replacement. I expressed my dissatisfaction that I'd be expected to replace a faulty unit when she had just admitted that it isn't my fault that the unit is faulty. I asked how long the units are meant to last for if its at fault within 18 months. She said that they endeavour for them to last a lifetime. The whole thing is ridiculous.
I was told a quote would be sent for a replacement device. As I like the system for my business I would have entertained the discounted price if it was reasonable. To buy a new unit it costs £178.80 Inc VAT. The discounted quote I have received is for the same unit at £152.40 Inc VAT. I thought it was a joke. "kindly" giving me a saving of £22+VAT because THEIR product is faulty. I can only assume that this software error is a scam so that they can sell more terminals. I'm so disappointed as I really enjoyed using the zettle terminal while it lasted. But how can I possibly buy another one if they've admitted that this error can occur at any given point due to no fault of the user?! SO FRUSTRATED

Same issue. Got the reader a few months ago, used it twice to test it out, then a month later lost sales at my very first event of the season because it wouldn't work due to the Security Alert. My experience with customer service has been nothing short of disrespectful.. being given the run around, multiple bad numbers, and even a blatantly wrong number... Switching to another provider. You're welcome for the $300 Zettle. This terminal is garbage. Goodbye.

There is another thread on here with some limited help for this issue. I've had the same issue and stumbled across it by searching Zettle Terminal

We’ve just had the same fault occur again - completely out of the blue after completing a customer transaction. Customer S said that even though it’s a system fault we have to replace it ourselves. What a joke!

Have been on hold now on two different phones trying to get through to CS, getting no where.
