paying with paypal credit for car rental

i noticed when i went to checkout on car rental company budget.com they offered paypal as a means to pay. when checking out with paypal, is the insurance covered by paypal? i know most credit cards offer this when you pay with a credit card. thanks!

If you are referring to PayPal purchase protection (limitations apply) covering your car rental purchase? Yes.

can you follow up on this please? per paypal, they are telling me they wouldn't carry renter insurance on the car rental when checking out with paypal.

Thanks for the help @sharpiemarker! PayPal credit does not offer any car rental insurance protection. If an eligible item that you’ve paid using PayPal doesn’t arrive or doesn’t match the seller’s description, PayPal Buyer Protection will reimburse you. Buyer Protection covers all eligible PayPal purchases including those paid with PayPal Credit. Hi, For me, the answer misses the mark a little... The scenario I have... 1) pay for the rental via paypal; 2) paypal charges my visa card

So, does the visa car rental insurance apply under this scenario or, do I have to pay the car rental directly using my visa card/does paying via paypal act as a cutout to the coverage?

I'd be happy to clear up any confusion here. PayPal does not offer car insurance when you use PayPal as the payment method to rent a car, Also, PayPal's Purchase Protection would not apply to a car rental since vehicles are listed under the Ineligible Items and Transactions section of our User Agreement.

While you spelled out your issue very clearly it seems no one who has responded understands what you are asking, especially the PayPal moderators. They are fixated on what PayPal benefits apply, not what credit card benefits apply.  Your issue seems to me to be as follows:

1 - Your credit card comes with a benefit that covers deductibles and other charges that may apply in the event you have an accident but the benefit applies only when you use that credit card to pay for a car rental.

2 - PayPal is being used to pay for your car rental.

3 - The payment to the car rental company is being made through PayPal and PayPal is processing the payment through your credit card.  

4 - You want to know if your credit card benefit is still applicable for that car rental.

I don't know the answer but I know what your issue is. I'd love to know the answer to that one too.
