404 Not found errors on Payment button

I'm trying to set up our Buy Now button and have been through the wizard and are now testing it from our site - but I SOMETIMES  get a 404 error - specifically:

404 Not Found

The requested URL '/x/web/LIVE2/web/paypal.com/htdocs/html/Error500.htm' was not found on this server.

I don't understand as it worked yesterday  - and not today it's not working.  We are running on a wordpress platform - but like I said, this all worked fine yesterday.

Any ideas??

Thanks!

Hi B2B and wimblejon,

Welcome to the forums, both of you!

What is the URL for the page on which your button appears? I'd be happy to take a look and to do some troubleshooting.

Sometimes the service on which you host the site, or the editor you use to incorporate the code will insert spaces or breaks or other information that interrupts the code. That's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head without seeing it first-hand.

Hi,

I created some paypal buttons to deploy on a Drupal based website (http://www.olabemestar.eu/olabemestar/node/39). I managed to use the first button a few times and, then, when I had the 6 buttons and tried them again, I started getting one of two errors:

- a pink 404 error page

- a shopping cart page with an error forwarding the customer to the seller.

As I did some changes to the buttons code, I assumed I had done something wrong. I tried pasting the code as is from the paypal create buttons application, and I even created a new button to copy paste to my page. I also tried the page outside drupal, as a stand alone html page.

After some research, I found out some people claimed this was due to a paypal bug with cookies, caused by constant log in and log out when developing. I erased my cookies and tried again, with firefox, IE and Chrome. All of these were unsuccessful and this is why I'm now hoping for a positive answer from you.

regards

Hi olabemestar,

I'm not seeing anything that would cause this. My two recommendations for you would be to file a ticket and check the Developer forums at http://www.paypal.com/MTS. Both of those might lead you to an answer. I hope this helps!
