Not getting some payment notification emails

I get PayPal payments about 5-10 times a week, but there have several payments in the last few weeks for which I did not receive any email notification. Usually I use that email to let me know that I need to ship orders, so some things were shipped late because I did not realize that they had paid until a couple of days had passed. If checked my deleted mail, junk mail, spam-filtered mail, etc., and they're not in any of those places either. Is anyone else having this problem? Any advice?

Hi everyone!
I'm merging these threads. The payment notification email delivery issue and the invoice delivery issue are actually two separate things, but a few threads are discussing both issues, so I'll cover both here. Please understand that there are two separate issues.
Regarding the payment notification email issue: I know that some of you are newcomers to the thread, so I'll renew my request to bear with me. I'm checking on this regularly, and I will update this thread when there is more information. Thanks to all of you for your patience.
Regarding the issue with invoices not being received: I have a workaround for you which I will post below. Our engineers are working on a feature to improve this in the near future, but for now, follow these steps and it will work for you:
If an invoice is not being sent to the intended recipient, check to see if the email option is set to ‘Don’t show on invoice’. If that is set we will not send the invoice out. Even if user clicks the Gold button that says ‘Send’. Please check the settings on your PayPal account: - Log into your account - Click on Request Money - Click on Invoice Settings - Click on "Your Contact Information" For the "Email" option, what is the current setting? The setting for this option will dictate whether or not the e-mail is sent to the customer. Also, this setting can be viewed when creating an Invoice. On the Invoice Creation page, there is an "Edit Contact Information" link. If you click on that link, you will see the "Email" option. Please verify the value for this setting when creating invoices. To fix the existing invoices, you can go to Manage Invoices, click on the invoice you wants to fix (click the invoice # link). From there, Edit the invoice. When editing, click “Edit contact information” and set the Email field to the email address. After that change is made, you can Send the invoice again. This will update the invoice and resend the email to the recipient. Also, you can also copy this invoice and send out a new one. |
Thanks!

I read Olivia's email about clicking on the "show email address". It is true that the ones that didnt go through were ones that I checked "dont show invoice". I will try going back on the ones that havent gone through and resend them. I did get around the problem today by sending "requests for money" instead of using merchant services and they did receive the invoices and pay them.
Thanks Olivia

I am just discovering how big a problem this is. We have been worrying for months about not getting notifications and aggravating over it. Now I find out it has been known for a LOOONG time. Perhaps the best bet is to send the confirmation emails from PayPal not from each individual customer. Thus PayPal can be on our white list and not get dumped somewhere by our various spam catchers. We know PayPal would never send us spam!!! <grin>

have you ever noticed? any time there is an issue it is always our fault? never paypals. I've been having these issues with failure to send email notifications for years. off and on. everytime I contact paypal it is always our fault. or they've never heard of this issue. yet there are discussion forums on the internet about this issue. its very frustrating because due to not having an email in hand, we can double ship an item. or possibly miss shipping an item. both have happened to us. some days we ship 50 to 75 orders. it can get very confusing.
the other issue, that bugs the heck out of me is when people are making a payment to us and need to leave a note. they have to open a note window. if they miss that little button then no note. half the time I get separate notes from people saying they never saw a place to leave a message. why not bring back the visible note window? separate notes come in in different emails addresses and ebay ID's. not always easy to match them up with a payment.
sorry but I get the feeling paypal just doesn't care. I;m not even sure why I am bothering to do this. except when one of my customers is unhappy I want to know. maybe someone at paypal does too.

I'm having the same issue! If this doesn't get resolved, I'm outta here! Will be opening a Google pay account to see if that works any better.

Hi guys. I think that I started this thread.
Two days ago, I sent out two invoices and they went through and I was notified of them being sent. Now, again, Im not getting notified and the customers are not receiving the invoices. I sent my to my personal AOL account on Monday and today is Thursday and it hasnt arrived. Ive also sent two reminders to the same address and they havent arrived either.
Any thoughts? Ive emailed to PayPal and they suggested that I check my spam filter. This is not a "spam filter" issue. My customers arent getting their invoices and Im not getting paid! Help!!

I work for a corporate automotive company, and selling on eBay is my job. I sell approximately 150 items per week. We started experiencing a problem toward the end of last year. It started out as only a few per month, and has now progressed. Monday I had 25 payments made with "express checkout" that a notification was never received on. Yesterday, 10 more, and today another 10-15. The problem is consistent with only "express checkout" payments. I spent 1 1/2 hrs on the phone with a rep from paypal yesterday, and still haven't found the source of the problem. He acted as if he has never heard of this problem. I do a simple web search today, and find that it's actually quite common!
According to him, eBay has been ramping up a new checkout method. The number of notifications we've not received is consistent with this ramp-up.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

At this point I would like to know if there are people that are still having problems with Payment Notifications that use Pay Pal for the normal or usual invoicing (that do not have their account tied to something else as in the above post).
Has this issue been taken care of yet.
I use Pay Pal sporadically for invoicing (not selling) as we are a service company. I am thinking of using it more frequently and would like to know if this problem is still on going because I think then it would be time for me to find a different company to deal with.
Thanks

At the risk of jinxing things, we have been consistently receiving email notifications for 1 to 5 payments a day. It's been at least a few weeks now since we have not received a notification. Let's hope this keeps up!

I set up my website with a number of PayPal buttons and yesterday was the first sale. The customer used two different buttons to orer and i received notification within a few minutes.
So I know at least the button items are working. I don't know about e-bay as I have yet to use it again since this problem occured a few months ago.
