Setup a "pay now" button with a variable amount

Hey guys,

I am a Mobile Computer Technician and what I am looking to do is setup a pay now button that allows me to have my client put a variable amount in and then type in their credit card info to pay.

I saw the button templates on the paypal site but those required an item with a set cost? At least I thought so, I may be doing it wrong.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

This is exactly what I'm looking for too... if you go to 7mary3.net on the right, you'll see the option to pay by PayPal, and then it allows you to enter the amount you want to send. I'm trying to find out how to do this for my own site.

That's exactly what I'm looking for, a pay now button that allows my site to determine the amount dynamically.  I've seen some posts by skier but his links aren't working. Perhaps if customer service were to read this and post a link where we could find this info.

I'm still working on it, but I've uncovered some information I wanted to share in case I don't make it back here to post a solution. 🙂

Is a forum post that shows the actual form code.  It appears you have to code your own button and the button is called a 'clear type' button.  Here is the page I'm reading at the moment:

https://cms.paypal.com/us/cgi-bin/?&cmd=_render-content&content_ID=developer/e_howto_api_ButtonMgrAP...

Specifically I'm at the part where it says "Button Hosting"

Hope this helps someone. 🙂
