Buyer pays by gift/family&friend , can he chargeback in anyway?

Alright so I'm just the third person here trying to sort things out between my friend who wants to sell his cs:go knife and the buyer has already sent 120euro as a gift , and i got called in to talk between these people because they both don't speak english. Anyhow my concern is that the seller "my friend" is gonna get chargebacked if he sends the knife, it says it takes 2-3 days for the money to take effect in paypal , but even though it says non-refundable and all those sweet stuffs , i still see threads about people who manage to chargeback these kind of stuffs. The buyer has already sent his payment as a gift in 120euro "out of good faith?" lol , so what i'm wondering is , could this possible be a scenario where the money gets chargebacked? , or is this legit and safe to send the buyer the knife?. When i talked to these two i said that if the money actually comes into my friends account , i'll have him send the money back to you as a gift , because as for now i don't trust paypal with all chargeback threads I'm reading everywhere.

Any thoughts on this?, I believe the buyer was 14 and had no creditcard assigned to his account, is that also possible?, really scared because i don't want my friend to get scammed. Please help //Nfiniti

if he has said he sent an invoice / marked as gift / says money released in 24 hours+ /  can't be reversed / no funds in paypal balance ALL = scam.

if he paid you don't have to wait for the funds to go into the balance, its is pretty much instantaneous, paypal would never tell you to wait 2-3 days for payment.

i don't think for a minute that the funds will show up but if they do and the buyer funded their paypal payment via a credit card then yes he can still chargeback.

A few things to ponder.

Firstly to do with your friend.

You are not supposed to sell and accept the friends / family option, if you do and paypal find out you risk the account being limited.

Also there is no seller protection either for virtual items so if a buyer did a chargeback then he would probably win.

Even though he is paying via friends /family he can still file a chargeback as a chargeback is not a paypal dispute it is done directly by the buyer via his credit card company if he funded his paypal payment with a card.

Secondly there is a scam >>

Are the funds actually showing in your friends paypal account BALANCE, if not then the buyer has not paid.

If he has only received an "invoice" then its a scam as sellers send invoices not buyers. The scam also shows the invoice as saying the payment is a gift / can't be chargedback and won't show the payment in your balance for 24 hours.

Work through that lot and see what fits.

Payment status says: Already marked as paid. on my friends side.

But i did notice now in one of the screenshots the buyer took , it says on his payments "Invoice sent for €120.00 - Paid"

Legit?

If there are no funds in your friends paypal account BALANCE then they have not paid.

It could be an invoice "marked as paid" but did your friend SEND an invoice? and if so then if it was paid there would be funds in their paypal account balance.

smells very highly of a scam.

No the buyer just asked for his gmail , and then the buyer sent the money. So that's why i'm skeptic to whether it's legit or not. Says that it takes 2-3 business before the effect occurs in the paypal balance, right now he doesn't have the money in paypal from the buyer. So if the money get's in , is it still legit , or will the kid probably just do a chargeback even when the transaction has gone through?

So to summarize

What my friend did: Gave his gmail and nothing more, no invoice or anything , he just gave told the buyer his gmail

What the buyer did: Recieved the gmail, sent a payment as a gift that says on his screenshot Invoice sent for 120 euros - Paid

Paypal message from the buyers screenshot says: This is a PayPal gift for family and friends. This gift is non-refundable and may take up to 2-3 business days to reflect upon your PayPal balance. This message is confirmng the money has been sent

Conclusion: My friend did not recieve the balance immediately , and not even within these 6 hours after the transaction by the buyer had been sent.

So what can i make out of this?. And if the money goes through , what should we do with it? , send it back or just let it rest there?.
