Paypal claim against me (seller) scamm

I have an ad on craigslist about a phone I want to sell, I have a person who wants to pay me a bit more money through PayPal because they claim they cannot meet up to exchange money. I charge 700 but they will pay me 800. will they be able to file a claim against me for not sending a package/or them not receiving it, and without any proof of it coming, they will get the money they paid me back? they want to pay me and then take it back through a claim... is that possible they could do that? if so, is there a way to protect me against this type of scam behavior. the buyer contacted me 2 times through text and both have same "cant meet up, will pay 800 for everything through PayPal" texts. literally the same, copied and pasted. I know this is a scam, and I have text proof that they texted me with both conversations screenshotted for my proof that they are sketching, but I don't know if PayPal will protect me in any way against their fake claim, if they do decide to take my phone and the money they paid me...

Firstly buyers can open disputes for item not received OR item received but not as described. With the first you would win if you could provide a tracking number that proved delivery of the item to the buyer, with the other if paypal find in their favour then they have to return the item back to you first before you refund. HOWEVER seller protection is not a 100% coverall and things do go wrong so you need to read up on it in the user agreement so you can risk assess your transactions.

BUT

Secondly NO-ONE offers to pay more for a phone than they need to so this sounds like THIS scam  >>

They encourage you to use paypal and often ask you to send the item as a gift to a relative somewhere often Nigeria.
You will get/got a "fake" email that looks as though it is from paypal.....it isn't.
It will say the buyer has paid ...you won't have been paid.
They will tell you that the payment is released when you provide paypal with a tracking/shipping number......this won't happen.

They also threaten legal action...have a laugh at that one and ignore it as its rubbish.
Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item before the payment is showing in your paypal account.
Paypal do not tell you to send trackable, they advise it for selling protection but it is not compulsory.

My advice is that this is a SCAM and you should delete any emails and ignore the scammers.

My second bit of advice is CASH ON COLLECTION ONLY AND DON'T USE PAYPAL FOR HIGH RISK ITEMS.

Funny thing is, I know it's a scam. And just wanted to know how or what ways PayPal would protect me as a seller. You answered my question, and thank you.

Well firstly if its a scam, paypal have nothing to do with it as it would all be done via FAKE emails and nothing would be done on paypals site.

Secondly I have nothing to do with Paypal, I am a 'user' of this forum the same as you are.
