Sold a counterfit coat what do I do?

Hi everyone I recently purchased a coat from an established eBay seller however the transaction was done outside of eBay I was sent an invoice and paid that way. The jacket has came and is a fake. The seller has asked me to return the jacket for a full refund once he receives it. My only worry is what if he doesn't refund it? Am I protected ?! Any help is much appreciated thanks!

As seller fakes is against the law you should not have to return it.

Personally I would tell the seller that as what he is doing is illegal, unless you get a FULL refund you will be taking the coat and reporting him to trading standards AND Ebay.

If he refuses then file a dispute with paypal for item received but not as described HOWEVER if you can get WRITTEN proof from trading standards OR a shop / firm that sells the genuine article then you may not have to return the coat.

But if you can't provide that proof put in as much information as you can and then escalate the dispute to a claim and wait for paypal to tell you if and when to return it.

If you decide not to do this and just return it then make sure you send it TRACKABLE so that you can open a dispute later if he does not refund you.

That's a big help I will try out the first option by taking it to the retailer and getting writen proof I'm just a bit worried they may take the jacket ! If all else fails I will send tracked and try that

Personally i would contact the seller first and state you will report him to trading standards unless you get a full refund without returning the item.............sometimes that works.
