refund still pending?!

i am waiting for a refund and it still says pending even though it says pending untill the 23rd which is today. does anyone know why it is still pending or if i need to do anything?

If a refund is pending it means the seller did not have enough funds in their paypal balance to refund you...............so it has gone as an echeque from his bank and you need to wait for it to clear through to paypal and then it will  be credited to you.

The date is a "guesstimate" but it should clear hopefully today or tomorrow.

Did you fund the orginal payment that is being refunded by:

1. Instant bank transfer or

2. Debit card.??

Then once the echeque has "cleared" the funds won't show in your paypal balance > they automatically go back to your bank account but again take a few days > up to a week to process back there. 

BUT it may be quicker if its an echeque as it could be it goes straight to your bank and the "pending" is part of that timescale...not sure on that bit.

What if the seller didnt have sufficient funds in their bank account either?... then what happens? Im not sure but im afraid i might this may be what happened

Then the pending refund would fail and you may have to open a paypal dispute.

I have the same problem! The pending date was today (5 working days) and still shown as pending, what do I do now, the person has left the forum where I originally made the purchase, can they get away with ripping you off when the pending date has passed?

not returning any emails from me?
