I am receiving the message "Something went wrong" when trying to connect to the sandbox environment for merchant id
BY8TAYXXJ4EKE in Magento 2.0
I am trying to create a sandbox environment for Paypal Express checkout in Magento 2.0. Under Stores > Configuration > Sales > Payment Methods > Paypal Express Checkout, I enter the API username, password, and API signature, click on the Sandbox Credentials button, and then receive a popup window to login to connect the Paypal account to start accepting payments...
I enter the sandbox account email address, click next, enter the password on the next screen and click Log in. The next screen is "Allow PayPal to connect your account..." I click "Agree and Connect". I then get the message "Something went wrong"
How to fix?

Good day @HealingScents,
Thank you for posting to the PayPal community.
To troubleshoot the issue, I kindly request that you clear the cache and cookies in your web browser. I recommend trying different browsers. Sometimes, certain browser settings or extensions can affect the functionality of a website. Furthermore, trying to access the website in private/safe mode can help determine if any third-party applications or extensions are causing the problem.
If you are still facing issues, please create an MTS ticket via - https://www.paypal-support.com/s/?language=en_US with the detailed information and error details.
Sincerely,
Vaishnavi

I have tried all these troubleshooting steps, as well as using a fresh install of Firefox. Still getting the same error in all cases. Have created an MTS support ticket.

I got a quick response back from technical support that this is a know issue with the sandbox environment which has been escalated to the product development team with high urgency. There is no timeframe available.
