Account restricted without any detailed explanation in the resolution center.

My account was suddenly restricted after I received funds and the resolution center did not mention any way that I could dispute the decision, as it only redirects me to the message saying that I can no longer use paypal after their "review". If I did break any rules, I would appreciate it if they at least tell me what I did wrong so I can make amends or give explanation from my side of the story. But the inability to do anything aside from looking at the screen saying "You can no longer use the account" without any explanation, or any option to dispute the restriction is honestly very frustrating and belittling the customers. The fact that how confusing paypal works doesn't help in the slightest as well. It's such a horrible user experience.

The resolution center did not say anything aside from redirects me to the restriction message, and contact customer service tab shows me a singapore based landline I should call, which means it's an overseas call (I'm in Indonesia), a cost I can't afford to use. I just need a way to know what I did wrong and what I need to do to resolve this.

PayPal, according to the user agreement, is not obligated to reveal their security/risk models to prevent people from going around it and may be compelled by law or regulation not to reveal it.

Most of the restricted activities are listed and discussed throughout the user agreement. If you read it, you might realize which rule is broken.

The “You can no longer use PayPal anymore” notice/email usually says why in general, such as “use inconsistent with user agreement”, or that your account is a potential or excessive financial risk to PayPal, account opened account while under 18, suspicious activity, violated Acceptable Use Policy (damages of $2500 per violations may apply).

There are some types of business models that require pre-approval from PayPal first before you start getting paid through PayPal for it or be banned so read the Acceptable Use Policy, too. You can still be banned even after you get pre-approval if how you running your business is causing a financial risk to PayPal.

Also common sense stuff that no one should do like not giving inaccurate account info that PayPal can’t verify or it don’t match, linking someone else’s financial information in your account.

If you do not want to call, you can write to PayPal Singapore legal dept by mail or contact PayPal by social media at Facebook or Twitter.

Kudos & Solved are greatly appreciated. 🙂
