I'm selling my car (not on ebay) and have had someone offering to buy via paypal and send someone for collection. I know all about these scams where buyers say I'll pay with a bankers draft and add shipping fees and the seller has to sort it out with the shippers. I've always disregarded these and said cash on collection only but this one says he'll pay in full via paypal and arrange for someone to collect. I just want to know where I stand on the security of the payment. Do I have to wait any particular time for it to clear? Can he cancel payment once cleared or request a refund?
You hear so many scams going on I just want to be sure, I'm already dubious due to the fact he's saying he'll send someone else to collect. Or am I just best sticking to my guns and demanding cash on collection? Please help.

The car is still for sale. The lowest I will go on the car is 2200. The wheel bearing on the front drivers side is going out. I have the car scheduled to be in the shop, this comming wednesday, to have that fixed, an oil change, and also have a sensor for the coolant checked out. Every morning when I start the car the low coolant light comes on but there is coolant in the resivor. If I get all that done before someone buys it I am going to be firm at the $2500. It is a great car, and I have a copy of the west virginia title from when I bought the car. Dont want to sell, but I need a bigger car.

Thank you for the response, I will like to know it's present condition
and the reason of selling? Please Can you assure me that it's in good
state that i wouldn't be disappointed with it? I'm so much interested
in purchasing it and the price sounds good to me, but I would have
come down myself for the inspects and make the transaction done in
person but due to the nature of my work i will not be able to do so
because I'm a United State NAVY stationed at Cherry Point, Shipping
and picking up would be on me because i will arrange for the Shipping
Company/Mover agent for picking up at your residence after the payment
might been cleared, Mover agent will come for the pick up after the
payment have been made through PayPal, and he will do all the
necessary things on my behalf when he comes for the pick up, i want
you to be honest with sincerity with this transaction, if there is
anything else to do kindly let the Mover agent know before left your
place. I will be paying you with my PayPal Account because it's
attached to my Bank Account and its safe and very secure way to make
payment online. If my mode of payment is accepted so kindly get back
to me with your PayPal account email address so that i can proceed
with the payment as soon as possible.
Thanks for understanding and hope to read from you soon.
Best regards
J. Camastro

The cars present condition is fair to good. The car has some scractches and a couple dings and as seen in the pictures on craigslist, the paint is peeling on the back bumper. The only thing that I have found on the car that doesn't work, is the power sunroof. It will go up half an inch and thatbis it. Havnt looked into getting it fixed. The only reason for selling, is because I have a 7 month old kid and it is a pain to get her in and out of a 2 door car. Im looking for a 4 door, and need the money from my grand am to put down on a newer 4 door car.

I can take more pictures and email hem to you so you can see everything. On the front bumper, something happened to it before I purchased the car but like I said, I can take more pictures in detail in the morning and email them to you.
I was gonna continue with it but after searching the name, there is no way I would do it. Thanks to everyone who has posted about these scams about this guy!

This is what I received today 10/2/13 after he wanted me to email the final offer. I did not copy or link his address, just typed to new mail message.
Thanks for getting back to me,The price of what am buying as
advertised is okay by me by offering $100 to hold it and make sure it
sold to me alone.. I will strongly like to make an outright purchase
of this immediately due to your Integrity as stated in your ad which
shown that your a real seller,I really love the condition of what am
buying but please for further assurance that this real just email me
some pictures of it asap.. I may sound rude, but please understand that
i have to be caution of what am buying as well due to untruthful
seller here.. I would have come down myself for the inspection and
make the transaction done in person but due to the nature of my work i
couldn't baecause I'm a United State NAVY and i'll like to know the
following:
(1) How long have you had it?
(2) I will like to know the reason why you are selling it..
(3) Hope i'll enjoy it?
(4) What are the major problem of it?
Note that i'll be responsible for shipping and handling. I have
decided to use the program "Buyer and Seller Protection" offered by
PayPal Inc in order to make the transaction done fast cos it take 2-3
days business. Do bear with me and get back to me on time with your
PayPal account name and email or easily send an invoice to this same
email am using to communicate with you as its the same thing with my
PayPal also. I want only legit transactions! If you are not aware of
how they operate you should know that they will give both of us proper
protection and also if you don't have an account yet you can simply
set up one via www.paypal.com after payment is confirmed to you by
PayPal, you'll receive a confirmation stated that someone has sent you
money, that means if you use this your email address to set up the
PayPal account as well.. As soon as payment is confirmed by PayPal my
mover would come down for the inspection and shipping handling, please
provide me your full name,Visible home address(street, city, zip, state)
and your PayPal name and email address so that I can start making the
payment as soon as i can.
Thanks and reply asap.

Hi All
Recieved today (Oct 7, 2013) after I responded to an earlier enquiry asking "is it still available" :
Thanks for your swift response, please do consider me as the buyer i am okay with the price and condition of the car, as am buying the car for my Daughter for her birthday which is coming up next week, i am currently at sea at the moment as a United kingdom Royal navy and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding it. I really want the car to be a surprise package for my Daughter so I won't let her know anything about the car until it gets delivered to her, I am sure she will be more than happy with the car. I insisted on PayPal as my mode of payment because I don't have access to my bank account online and also, I don't have internet banking, but I can pay from my PayPal account. I have my bank account attached to my PayPal account, so I will need you to get back to me with your PayPal email address and your final price so I can make the payment asap for the car. Nevertheless, if you don't have a PayPal account yet, it is very easy to set up, go to www.paypal.co.uk and get it set up, after you have set it up I will only need the e-mail address you used for the registration with PayPal so as to put the money through. I have a pick up agent that will come and pick the car up after I have made the payments for the car.
My Regards.
