On July 2, 2021 I was trying to get Amazon Prime set up on my TV. Following the TV links I received a code. I called Amazon to find out what was next. An Amazon Representative helped me set up my TV. Then he noticed my Prime Membership renewal was August 5, 2021 and he told me there was a July special that I could get a 3-yr renewal at $60 per year. He said he would be sending an invoice in another person's name. I received the PayPal invoice and paid it, but it wouldn't print a receipt. I was told that on August 5th the renewal year would change from 2021 to 2024. Today the renewal date didn't change and Amazon has reminded me that they will auto renew. It was a PayPal invoice so I filed a claim. Has anyone else experienced this scam??

In July I tried to set-up Amazon video on my TV. The phone number was on my television with a code. I called the number and there was a message to leave my phone number so that I would be called back. So I left my phone number and within seconds the phone rang and it was Amazon. The representative then proceeded to ask me for the code on my television screen. I gave him the code and then the screen changed and it was showing Amazon video - Home page. He then said I see your renewal for Prime membership is next month - August, but we are offering a July special - 3 years at $60 per year. I said yes and he said he would be sending a PayPal invoice for $180 plus tax. He also gave me a phone number for support. I paid the PayPal invoice using my credit card. A few days later when I logged into Amazon I noticed that my renewal date hadn't changed from 2021 to 2024 so I called the support phone number and I was told that when it was August 5th the year would change to 2024. Obviously, that didn't happen so I filed a complaint with PayPal.

Did you call Amazon using a number from their site or did you google the number and maybe speak to a fake customer services agent?
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

I got scammed the same way. I lost $59.00 plus tax. The same thing happened with getting a code on my tv.
