Credit card information stolen from PayPal iOS app

I purchased a gift visa card and entered the new credit card information as a form of payment using the PayPal app on my iOS.

I  used the card for  3 legitimate transactions through PayPal within 24 hours of activating it.       The same day, I checked the balance on the gift card, and an unauthorized transaction for PADDLE.NET* ZENNOLAB for $10 had posted to the card.      The only vendor I have used the card is via the PayPal iOS app.      In the last week, two more unauthorized charges (not through PayPal, but directly with credit card information) appeared.

Is the app unsecure?  Is there a way for the credit card information to be stolen while it is being entered as a form of payment on the PayPal app?    I can not think of any other way the credit card information could be taken, as it was ONLY used on PayPal.

It seems there is a serious lack of security when entered credit card information on the PayPal app.    Has anyone else experienced this?

Hello @tungstenofnine,

Welcome to the PayPal community and thank you for your post.

In this situation, the best thing to do would be to contact our Customer Care department. You can do this by going to the ‘Contact Us’ link at the bottom of every PayPal page. You will then see what contact options are available to you.

Thank you for your reply. However there appears to be a vulnerability in PayPals app payment management system. Is this something that the app developers are looking into?

Hi there,

Usually we are notified of any issues with the App and we are not aware of any that would result in credit card information being compromised.
