Contacted seller on facebook, there was ample communication on messenger and I insisted PayPal due to the high level of people being defrauded with bogus tickets. Seller sent a money request, it does not state payment method but did contain a 2.99 fee which to my knowledge is a function of a feed & goods transaction, I believe all personal payments to be fee free! I paid, there was no Paypal balance so the payment was taken directly off my Mastercard (Revolut debit card) and issued to this seller. Communication continued and tickets were emailed. I commented on the validity as soon as I received them and was assured that they were legit. I drove 1.5 house with 4 of my friends to be turned away at the gate, whilst my friends went in as the tickets were fraudulent. Contacted seller directly straight away. No response.I attempted to file a dispute with PayPal, due to payment method the only reason for a dispute is unauthorised activity. I fully explained in the comments section. Response received straight away, stating that no buyer protection and advised me to apply for a chargeback as banks responsibility. I’ve tied to report the account for fraud to PayPal. No response. I’ve filed a dispute with resolver and escalated it to the FO. PayPal preach safe buyer/seller/user tool. How can they not be interested in an account gaining money illegally by exploiting a technical fault (the payment request failing to show payment type) the account could be continuously performing this scam as there is NO come back! I’ve also tried a chargeback claim with Revolut and they state paypals responsibility. Basically I’m 102.99 down and everyone is blaming each other and blatantly not interested. I’m a recently single mum of 2 children, my husband of 27 years took his own life in July due to PTSD this was first thing I’ve done since my friends begged me to go, I’m sure you can anticipate how my lack of faith in humanity and any kind of system to prevent fraud is destroyed. I have literally been robbed, I thought I’d took steps to ensure I was covered in the event of fraud and due to a technicality It really did happen. I’ve tried everything to get money back or at least make the thief pay for their actions, PayPal is quite secure so the account should identify the fraudster! I’m just so disappointed with the situation.

Sounds as if you paid a paypal.me link and not a money request.
As you were charged the fee then again it sounds like a paypal.me link /family and friends option as sellers pay any fee if you pay using the goods/services option.
As you paid the fee it had to be a friends/family payment which is not covered by paypal buyer protection.

Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Well you won't if you paid using the friends/family option as you would have negated your buyer protection unfortunately.
