Forced to buy bitcoin

I received an estimate of 5,000. I was supposed to be receiving this payment. I got an email from PayPal with a transaction account that said I needed to purchase $260 worth of Bitcoin to receive the money as a transfer fee. Has anyone else had to buy Bitcoin to receive a payment. I called customer support from the app and she said that when I make the purchase of Bitcoin the 5,000 will show in my PayPal account. Has anyone else done this?

I thought so too, but I called the customer service directly from the app which is why I’m confused whether it is or not

"Called customer service from the app" -- which app? If you mean the PayPal app, perhaps your phone is compromised and a fake app is installed on it?

To answer your original question, no. PayPal does not ask anyone to pay anything to receive money. The money just arrives in your account.

You never pay any upfront fee as a seller.

Ignore scammers that send fake Paypal emails telling you that you need to pay an upfront fee to verify/upgrade/or any other reason to 'accept' a payment.

You would certainly never have to send funds via another payment processor/bitcoins/ or tokens/vouchers of any sort.

Any fee is auto deducted by Paypal at the same instant the remainder of the payment is credited to your Paypal account balance.

No funds in your balance = you have not yet been paid, even pending/held payments will still show in your Paypal account activity.
