I am selling my shoes and the buyer sent me money on Paypal. I received a notification on the PayPal application that I got an estimate and to accept it I have to pay a certain fee. But I never get the money from estimate when I pay the fee. I know about the estimate scam but I got estimate message in my Paypal application, not on email. I want to ask if this is a scam?

You never pay any upfront fee as a seller.

Ignore scammers that send fake Paypal emails or invoice estimates telling you that you need to pay an upfront fee to verify/upgrade/or any other reason to 'accept' a payment. This could be on the email OR in the ''notes'' section of any estimated invoice.

You would certainly never have to send funds via another payment processor/bitcoins/ or tokens/vouchers of any sort.

Any fee is auto deducted by Paypal at the same instant the remainder of the payment is credited to your Paypal account balance.

No funds in your balance = you have not yet been paid, even pending/held payments will still show in your Paypal account activity.

Hey @nat999,

Thank you for the help @kernowlass

I understand how concerning this can be for you! Estimates are similar to the invoices which means you have received a money request in your account sent by the buyer. You can always cancel your estimate. When you cancel an estimate, the sender will receive an email notifying them of the cancellation. You can learn more information about estimates here : PayPal estimate

If you get paid, you will receive an email from PayPal with the details of the payment not a money request. Please forward any fake emails or invoices to phishing@paypal.com and view this webpage to learn more about how the fraudulent invoice scam and other scams operate here : How do I report potential fraud to PayPal

I hope this helps!
