Is this a Scam PayPal Email Address?

I have received a confirmation of a payment from someone claiming to want to purchase my car. The confirmation email is from and address that ends with [Removed]. The first part of the address is [Removed]. All seems like a scam to me so wanted to ask someone on here what they thought?

The catch is - they want me to send through $1900 to a third party bank account - which is supposedly their courier that will be collecting the vehicle.

Once I have paid that - they will release the funds.  I have no recourse on the $1900 other than the confirmation email from the above address.

Thanks - that is what I thought and you are spot on - they have done exactly that - not quibbled on price and said they can't collect because they work interstate.

Interestingly - he even sent me a picture of himself with his Driver's License ID.  Should I try and report to somebody?

SCAM.

They encourage you to accept a direct Paypal payment but no funds or activity of the transaction shows in your Paypal account and any emails may go into your junk/spam folders.

They don't quibble on cost and may also say they can't view the car as they are disabled or working abroad or sending as a gift to a family member but they will arrange a shipping agent or courier to collect it.

You will get/got a "fake" email that looks as though it is from paypal.....it isn't because they don't have a Paypal account and have no intention of paying you.
It will say the buyer has paid ...you won't have been paid.

The fake paypal email will tell you that the buyer has paid for the item + shipping costs but you must send those shipping costs to the courier/ shipping agent via another payment processor than Paypal or by providing some vouchers or tokens before the funds are released to you.
They are not interested in the car, they just want that couriers/shipping funds and you will never see money in your paypal balance.

Paypal NEVER tell you to send an item before the payment is showing in your paypal account.
Paypal NEVER expect you to use a rival money transfer service eg Moneygram, Western Union, Bank Transfer or any sort of gift token or voucher.
There is no seller protection on paypal for any type of motor vehicle or item that is collected by the buyer.

Delete any emails and ignore the scammers.

If i helped it may have been nice to have awarded my post as the solution rather than your own  🤔

Anyway no don't bother to report, they don't have a paypal account so paypal can't do anything and they normally use hacked email accounts and work from an internet cafe somewhere in Africa.

Yeah - right, you did help.  Being so clever, you may have noticed the words "new community member" underneath my name.  Hence, I didn't realise that the crediting of the correct answer would not be attributed to you.  But thanks sort of.  And in terms of reporting it - I wasn't going to report to PayPal but the Northern Territory Police - as someone is using this random guy's photo with him and his Driver's licence. I figured the real guy might like to know.

Anyway - thanks for your voluntary support - I promise next time to provide the appropriate recognition.
