Jet ski payment possible scam

Hi guys I am selling a jet ski on Facebook market place, I have been messaged by someone who seems interested but they want to pay for it now on PayPal and collect it at the weekend, this seemed a bit odd as they haven’t been to see it but I said that was fine but they would have to pay the fees or send it friends and family and sent them my email address They then replied and said they couldn’t get it to work could I send them a request for the money I said I would have to put the cost of the fees on to it and they didn’t blink an eye lid This rang alarm bells so I stopped there for tonight and thought I would ask here If they pay the full amount into my PayPal account then come and collect it can they some how get the cash back? I can’t see the scam but something feels off Cheers Si

Hello @SiTay

Welcome to the PayPal Community! It certainly does seem a bit odd that someone would want to buy any kind of motor vehicle sight unseen. With that in mind, I'm not able to say this is a scam right out of the gate, but I can say it does sound like a mix of a few of the common scams we've heard of in the past. You can view most of them in this Help Center article: What are the most common scams on Craigslist and other classified websites?

If you do decide to accept payment via PayPal, I would recommend reviewing our Seller Protection to make sure you're familiar with what is and isn't protected, as well as this article on Receiving payments through PayPal.

Good luck with your sale,
