Kinguin Digital Limited Scam - Denied Refund

I've just been scammed yesterday. Thankfully PayPal recognised it as fraudulent, but now I have Kinguin asking for the money. Even after all the login, IP evidence is on my account.

I have prepared a strongly worded email for if they make another request for the money.

I am flabbergasted as it's obvious that someone has logged into my account and used the saved Paypal details to purchase gift cards and they're saying I did it. How could I be in America at 10 am GMT when "I" made the purchase, and then be back in my work office for 14:30 GMT to log back in to make a ticket.

After several emails back and forth with Kinguin support, I sent this (in March) and haven't heard anything since. Feel free to copy...

"Once again, let me stress the fact that I AM NOT responsible for your sellers' payouts! Your company and the owner of <removed> at IP address 172.241.131.143 (the individual that received your product) are the ONLY people responsible for those payouts. I DO NOT have a contractual agreement of any kind with your company but more specifically in regards to the purchase/payment of/for your merchandise. I have a contractual agreement with PayPal. In that agreement, PayPal agrees to refund fraudulent transactions. Since you accept PayPal as a form of payment, your company also has a contractual agreement with them and has accepted PayPal's terms. That includes the reversal of transactions that have been deemed fraudulent. Maybe you should consult with your legal department, they may be better able to explain all of this to you.

I'm not sure If I'm more disturbed by the fact that you continue to harass and now threaten me in regards to this matter or the fact that some people in my situation, more naive than myself would just pay you. This will be my final communication with you on this subject. I had every intention of just letting this go once PayPal did the right thing. Rest assured, that is no longer the case. I will be filing complaints with anybody that will listen beginning with the Federal Trade Commission."

The same thing happened with me,

Suddenly I received a notification that I had paid 7 dollars for a registration to kingun, I immediately contacted PayPal via phone to inform that  wasn’t me the one who made the payment, during that time 2 payments more were made, 35 and 45 approximately , the assessor made the claim very attentively, she indicated me that the payments couldn’t be claimed as theft since a registration had been made in kingun with my name and personal data, so technically the purchases had been made by me, therefore it had to be presented as if I were retracting the purchase and request a refund of the money. for this I had to wait approximately 30 days for a response from PayPal.

In the last days I received a response through PayPal in which I was reimbursed the money of the 7 dollars for the registration to kinguin since it was not made by me, but the following two charges the higher ones were not reimbursed because there was no guarantee that I was not the one who made the payment.

These thieves know very well how to steal through PayPal, and the security provided is very low, the next day I received again an email where kinguin had made a new account with my email and despite the fact that he had changed the password and information; thieves changed my PayPal password several times. I had to close the email, create a new one just for PayPal and change the passwords for absolutely everything.

But my money was not returned.

I’m not a native English speaking so I hope I make my case clear for those who are being victim as well through kinguin and PayPal.

This same thing happened to me. I started receiving debit alert messages from my bank on the 4th of may 2021. A total of 71.68 Euros unauthorized purchase was made on my accout by from Kinguin Digital Limited. I quickly called my bank to block my debit card and then went to the bank to make a complaint. My bank gave me a form to fill and told me they will rectify the issue, but I did not hear from them till this day.

I actually just realized today that other people aside me have had this same issue. I had no idea that I could complain to paypal, I am not so savy with online payments.

I hope it is not too late to complain to paypal to get a refund.

Happened to me as well on February the 11th . They hit me for multiple charges and Paypal has still not refunded me for one of these charges. The fraudulent company sent a message (to themselves) when they hacked my account, then replied a month later from their own account, and PayPal is acting like it's legitimate, even though they had already agreed that this was an act of fraud and refunded all of the other charges in dispute. They still owe me €2.22!

Hello @Daddyoisme

Welcome to the PayPal Community! I'm glad to hear you've been refunded for the most part, but sorry to hear there's still an outstanding concern. I would recommend reaching back out to our Customer Support teams to see what options are available to resolve that -€2.22. My apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.

Good luck with this and future transactions with PayPal!

Jon K, are you **bleep**ing kidding us????

We have all been ripped off by this bunch of losers and 95% of refund demands have been denied by Paypal. There are a dozen topics about Kinguin but Paypal claims these transactions are all legal. I lost some 25 euros but people have lost 70 euros, 120 euros, 200 euros. And here you are, claiming filing a simple contact form (which we all did) will solve the issue of... 2,22 euro.

The issue is Papal and its refusal to act against this corrupt company. I never, ever bought a computer game. You owe me some 25 euros.

Thank you for your reply @HansSter, my apologies that was not a complete answer for your concern. You're absolutely right, it's never a great situation when you are charged for a purchase you did not make. During the investigation of an unauthorized dispute, an example that PayPal would consider unauthorized is when someone steals / fraudulently obtains the login information for your PayPal account, uses that information to access your PayPal account, and then sends a payment from your PayPal account.

However, in situations where you grant previous authority to someone to use your PayPal account by giving them your login information, like in the case of giving it to a friend or family member or having it saved on your phone, mobile device, etc as a funding source for a billing agreement, you would normally be responsible for those charges unless you have previously notified PayPal that you no longer authorize transfers by that individual / entity.

With that in mind, reaching our to our Customer Support as I stated above may be able to provide an alternate solution. They may be able to review the case a bit further and provide additional context on the case that may not have been previously provided. I'm not saying it's a 100% sure-proof way to get a refund, I'm just saying our support is there to help when they can.

Thank you for your time, and best wishes using PayPal in the future,
