Paypal has been eating my money

This is the third time that PayPal swallowed my money. The first time was for my landlord refunding me the fees that they owe and my landlord said they sent the money back via PayPal. Technically, I don't quite remember what happened to that transaction but it went to resolution. The second time, I filed a dispute with one merchant and the dispute was made in favor of me, but I never got the money. My bank said they never received the money and Paypal said they sent the money but never willing to update the status of the transaction. Paypal provided me a reference number for me to follow up with my bank by then. BOA was firm that they never received the money. They claimed that the money could have been sent by Paypal but my checking account has been closed so the money went back to Paypal. Paypal can show that they have sent the money and they don't want to show that the money has been rejected by my bank. So it's like a dead end. I knew the money was refunded but it's gone somehow. It was 660 dollars.

Third time, I purchased some clothes on OUTNET and I returned them because I am not fit into the clothes. Of course, I used PayPal as payment method and inevitably the refund went missing again. I just got confirmation email that OUTNET has refunded me on May 12th, 2023.

I just don't understand why the refund that was made via bank debit card, I received a check even after my account was closed. Don't ask me why am I closing my accounts recently. For those transactions that were made via PayPal, those two transactions, the refund got missing. Can anybody tell me why so much drama with Paypal?

Hello @Goldenkiwi123

Welcome to the PayPal Community Help and thanks for your post!

Sorry to hear about the missing refunds in your PayPal account. I know this can be very upsetting! Due to banking regulations, any refund processed will be returned to the original payment method. When a refund is sent to an expired/cancelled/closed card, the money will still go back to the account associated with that card and it may take 30 days for the money to appear in your account. You have to contact your card issuer to get your money. If the time frame is passed already and you don't see the refund, please contact PayPal Support team to initiate a trace for missing refund. You can find the contact options to reach PayPal team here

Hope this information helps,

Bindu
