Should I open a dispute?

Hello,

I ordered a phone from OnePlus but then I cancelled the order just 10 minutes after because of availability of different phone. I however couldn't get money back as the order as already in logistics. I was told to wait to receive the order and then ship it back for refund.

I received the order on 21st, and sent it back on the same day and it was delivered to the third party warehouse for inspection on 22nd. I can confirm that by the delivery site. However on the website of service requests, it shows the order hasn't been received yet. I was told by the customer staff to wait 5-7 business for inspection and then further 5-7 for refund. However I have a discount on a phone from different company that will expire on 30th, and I don't want that to expire.

Plus, I've read reviews of the warehouse it was sent to. It's 2.8/5 for most, with many saying  it takes a long time and has terrible service.

I'm not sure what to do but I just had this question. Is my case viable for dispute if I don't receive the refund in time? If yes, when should I open a dispute?

I would open a dispute. A dispute doesn’t do anything but have you email the seller the issue. If the seller still won’t help or refund you, then you escalate it to a claim. Nothing bad happens to you for doing this, you just show proof that you returned it and never received your money back and then the seller has to prove why. PayPal is a is a joke btw. They don’t protect buyers like they claim they do. Id close your account after this, I am. They don’t even answer the phone.
