Someone is buying dozens of $10 gift certificates through my website as fake customers

In the past day I have sold dozens of gift certificates via paypal. All to different customers and from different generic gmail addresses. Obviously fake.

I'll dispute/refund the orders in paypal but its been going on all day.

Any ideas as to why someone would do this?

To steal money from stolen card(s)/accounts, what else?

Can't use them if you supply a fake email address.
