Unknown Person requested and canceled $1 as test

This week I experienced suspicious activity on my PayPal account. I attempted to open a case, but was not able to do so, so I thought I'd ask here. I received a $1 request from a woman who's username I did not know. The request was labeled "Testing." The odd part was this person's email was my first and last name at (insert domain name), which is not an email I own. The persom then canceled the request. Should I be concerned I have been compromised, or someone is trying to perform a scam? I've changed my passwords but am still nervous.

Hello @SJF22

Welcome to the PayPal Community! I would certainly be concerned as well if I received an unexpected request like that. It's most likely just as the requested stated, a test request by the sender. While there are a few fraudulent invoice trends going around, they are normally for a much larger amount, reference some kind of exchange of good or service, and require the sender to agree to make the payment on the money request / invoice. With that in mind, it sounds like there is very little chance this request was any kind of fraudulent activity. However, it doesn't hurt to change your password in this case and here's a great Help Center article on Common scams and how to spot them just for good measure.

I hope that helps and have a great day!
