On the website I am interested in buying from,

it is not possible to pay with PayPal directly, but they ask that I transfer money to them via PayPal and write the order number in the notes.

Is this way protected by PayPal?

Hello @Temp20220920A

Thank you for your post and welcome to the PayPal Community Forum!

There are two ways of sending money via PayPal. You can send payments via Goods & Services (Protected Payments) or Family & Friends (Personal Payments).

PayPal's Buyer Protection Policy protects Goods & Services Payments for 180-days after purchase. PayPal offers purchase protection for cases of unauthorized use, non-receipt, and items that are significantly not as described.

Friends and Family Payments do not hold any purchase protection. This is a gift payment and is not to be used to purchase items or services, including digital content. I'm afraid we would be unable to assist in obtaining a refund if you chose this payment option, and you will need to work with the seller directly.

When sending this payment, I would advise ensuring you send this payment via Goods & Services in order to be protected for this purchase.

I hope this helps, have a nice day!

Rebecca
