private seller purchase

Hi,

I'm guessing this a beginners question.

Somone is selling used computer games online and they have asked me to pay via Paypal and they will post (but they want me to send the payment to their PayPal account) They said they have never sent an invoice before and I even sent them a link asking them to do this.

Anyway if I just send the payment and specify it is for 4 Switch games and the game titles - would that cover me in case they don't arrive, the games are missing inside the cases or are faulty?

Will I basically be able to open a claim and successfully obtain a refund should the seller be untrustworthy?

Thanks

Also they are asking for it to be a friends and family payment - I assume that this wouldn't cover any dispute is that correct?

Goods/Services Payments....which gives you buyer protection.

1. Invoice or Money Request.
2. Send money > Goods/Services.
3. Paypal.me link (if its a personal account then there should be the option to tick a box to make it a goods/services payment before you submit payment).

Friends/Family Payments....which does NOT give you buyer protection.

1. Send money > friends / family (or trusted person).
2. Paypal.me link from a personal account where you don't select the option to make it a goods/services payment.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Its been mentioned paying for goods would give protection however if I receive no invoice and I am sending the payment would it be acceptable me just putting the name of the items I am paying for and would that cover them items - or is something more I need to add?
