I keep getting a paypal security code on my phone when I haven't been doing anything on paypal that required it. Should I be worried and how do I report these activities?

Hello @Devi1960

Welcome to the PayPal Community! I'm sorry to hear you've been receiving codes you haven not requested. If you haven't been attempting to login, but you've been receiving a security code, normally that means someone is trying to access your account - but they wouldn't be able to without that code. Just to be on the safe side, I would recommend logging in and updating your password. You may also want to check your recent activity for anything you don't recognize. If you find anything suspicious, please report it at your earliest convenience through our Resolution Center.

Best wishes,

I too have been getting this text, at 3 or 4 AM in the morning while I'm sleeping.  So I know it's fraudulent. I updated my password, but am still getting them. What else can I do to protect myself other than closing my account?

I changed my password, log out etc. and still I'm getting PayPal secret code text messages. Usually early early in the morning too. I have since transferred my PayPal balance to my bank account just in case but I'm worried the hacker can tap into my bank account or credit card. I tried getting help from PayPal but they just told me to change my password (via generic reply email). I am thinking of closing my PayPal account as well. A friend suggested to use XOOM instead. Do you know if XOOM is better than PayPal?

I haven't linked my bank account, because I don't want to take the risk of hackers having access.

I haven't heard of Xoom.  Will have to look into it.
