I’ve been charged with USD 98.80 on my Credit card by a company called Bytedance. On my activity it is mentioned: Tiktok. I got no idea why I’ve been charged with USD 98.80 as I have not ordered nor received any products or services from Bytedance or Tiktok. I’ve issued a complaint at Paypal, but they’ve rejected my complaint. I’ve reopened my complaint and it is under investigation.
how is it possible that I am being charged with USD 98.80 for a company I’ve never heard of and got no idea why USD 98.80 have been charged to my credit card. I didn’t receive an email from Bytedance nor Tiktok in which they’ve mentioned which product or service they’ll deliver for USD 98.80. The safety and security of Paypal is very poorly as I’ve never been scammed via normal bank transactions. I guess everyone needs to be scammed someday..
does anyone have a suggestion for me? Go to my credit card supplier and issue a fraud report?

I just fell victim to this as well. I was charged $113.~~. PayPal asked me for more info and receipt of my charges.....hello, i didn't authorized it so i have no receipt or info. No website or contact info. Only what was charged. I tried to hunt down the fraudsters info to contact them but was unsuccessful. Why is PayPal continuing to allow these 'Bytedance' people to steal from us? I have no subscriptions or anything. I have no idea what this company is. I only know it charged my PayPal account and became invisible. I hope i can get my money back as well. I always felt like Pay Pal would protect me from scams. I'm concerned now they may not really care.

Hello @Smartecdeals and everyone,
Welcome! Thanks for visiting PayPal's Community Forum. I can certainly understand how unrecognized transactions can be quite concerning. As Meghan stated above, if a denied unauthorized dispute is associated with a pre-established automatic payment or billing agreement, that normally means any unauthorized access occurred on the merchant's site, not on PayPal. With that in mind, it's best to reach out to the merchant to investigate the situation further. You can usually find their contact info on their website or in the transaction details through your PayPal Activity. Please don't forget to review the rest of your Automatic Payments are agreements you've signed up for as well.
I hope that helps clears things up a bit,
- Jon K

Hi,
Unfortunately your reply is not helpful for what happened to myself and 1 month later I am still waiting for confirmation of a full refund to be processed. Paypal changed my request from fraudulent transaction to non receival of goods so I would appreciate any assistance from yourself why it is taking so long ?
Many thanks in advance .

I was charged £94.00 for climbing boots, no emails and no products. PayPal have said I'm not covered and [removed] have replied to them? But not me. Appears to be a Chinese company!

September 15. Received email looking like I didn't pay my paypal account. It was Bytedance /tiktok. They stole $120.00 from me. Paypal are no help. When you clicked it on it looks like you had given it pre approval. I corrected it right away. But it stole my money anyway. Paypal would not help. I am a VIP customer. Very sad that they would not help.

SADLY! Paypal denied this transaction. HELLO! there was NO transaction. Waited 8 days to be denied twice. Very disappointed in PAYPAL. Lost $120.00 which made me have an overdraft. Now I have that charge. I have contacted the bank to let them know about bytedance/tiktok. I am 71 years old and I donot partake in that stuff. VERY VERY upset. I believed Paypal was there to protect us. I repeat! There was NO transaction.
