Gift card funds stolen

I purchased vanilla gift card, checked bal and funds were stolen and put into a paypal acct. What can I do?

Normally, if you see this activity on your PayPal account, you can report this activity through our Resolution Center. If you do not see this activity on your PayPal account, we would recommend reaching out to Vanilla to see what kind of dispute options are available.

They told me it would take 45 days to investigate. But that was all the money I had until payday. I don't even know how anyone would've done it, I activated the card at the register when I bought it.
