I got 2 emails requests from someone I don't know but it's from a legitimate email

Hello,

I got 2 emails today - 1st saying "reminder you've still got a money request" and 2nd saying "invoice from Black Expo inc"

I don't recognise this as I haven't purchased anything and the email says it's for an item from Apple Store (again I didn't buy anything from apple store)

When I log in to my paypal account, this request is not there but the email is from service @ paypal . com which is a legitimate email so I'm worried that this will be somehow actually charged from my account. I forwarded these to phishing @ paypal . com but is there anything else I can do?

Another suspicious thing is that the email includes a phone number to call which after googling, I believe is not a paypal number

Any help or reassurance that this scam will not be charged from my account will be appreciated. Thank you

Hello Everyone,

Welcome to the community and thank you for your post!

We are sorry to hear that you have received a email notification about the purchase you haven't made or any invoice sent to you in an email. What you describe receiving is a common ploy that fraudsters use to trick people using email. Kindly avoid clicking any link and do not open or download attached documents in email.

Also, If you receive a suspicious email that is related to PayPal, then always check your resolution centre by log in to your PayPal account. If you didn't find any related details in the resolution centre means it's a fraud. Here's a great Help Center article on How to spot fake, fraudulent, or phishing PayPal emails or websites and What are common scams and how do I spot them?

I hope that helps!

Warm Regards,

Shradha

I got the exact same. This one was concerning because it looked so legit. Even had service@paypal on the email. Obviously I knew I hadn't made the purchase but because the email looked legit, my first thought wasn't that it was a scam but maybe a real mistake and that's not good.

I got the same emails, twice actually. I forwarded them to phishing@paypal.com (i think that was the email address. I got it through chat.)

I got the same thing today.  They are certainly getting better at mimicking PayPal emails, it's scary!

We're in an echo chamber here folks. I got the same emails re: Black Expo Inc. and for $1.099.99. I knew it was a total scam. I'll report it to Paypal too. Can't be too careful!

I have gotten this particularly scam phishing request a few times. I forwarded to phishing@paypal.com and then delete.

I just received the same email. Does anyone have additional information or advice to be sure this doesn’t end up coming out of my PayPal account? The amount of the invoice is $1000! Any help or reassurance that this scam will not be charged from my account will be very much appreciated. This is scary!

I received the two emails on Fri 10/25 at 6:43am and the next one at 6:45am

Black Expo Inc sent you an invoice for $1,099.99 USD

I almost clicked the "Report this Invoice" link b/c the email LOOKS legit and my provider did not flag the email. I am so glad I thought to google it first and I sent the emails to Phishing@paypal.com like one other user mentioned. Thank you for bringing this up.

I just received the same bogus email regarding a charge for Black Expo in the amount of $1099. When I checked the "From" email address in Outlook, it indicated PayPal. I'm glad that others have posted about it here to confirm that this is a scam.

I get two emails from these idiots every day and report them as phishing every day. Cannot block the email address since the email address is the PayPal address
