Is there paypal insurance activation fees

I got a art commission from a client through instagram. She said she will pay me $300 dollars and asked my PayPal address. I gave it to her and then I received a mail in spam folder saying that the money cannot be credited to my PayPal account since my account is not set to business user and my limit is less so I can't accept $300 but I have already set it to business account. Then It was written that client has to pay additional $200 to to me to raise the limit of my account. She said she paid it and I even recied a mail saying that she paid. Then I was asked to refund it to her through PayPal friends and family option and only after I refund her $200 I can get the money which PayPal has kept on hold I.e 300+200 =$500 . I couldn't pay it through PayPal friends and family option since it was defaulted to goods and services option and I couldn't change it. So she suggested to pay me through apple game card . And I did the purchase. And I emailed to that PayPal email to verify the PayPal process. Then they sent another mail asking me to pay for some activation fee and it has been already cut from my clients bank account .it was asking for me to additional $300 since it was already cut from the client . At this time I got suspicious . It this a scam?. I already paid them $200 .

Then unfortunately there is little you can do as you sent a 'gift' of money to someone.

If you funded your paypal payment via a credit card then reach out to your card issuer and see if they can chargeback for you? Unfortunately they may decline as well as it was not a payment for goods.

Thank you for this response, there's little I can do now but I appreciate for knowing just in case if somehow I get caught by these scammers again
