Hi - today I have received a letter from Moorcroft Debt Collection agency Limited saying that PAYPAL have instructed them to collect funds from myself from an overdue debt. I contacted PAYPAL who have confirmed I have no debt with them and so spoke to Moorcroft who said I have had an account opened with PAYPAL in my name - my address is slightly incorrect - and the email used is nothing like my email address - I don't even have an email account with that company!!!
I have checked my credit file and there is nothing suspicious on there and I have checked my PAYPAL account and there is also nothing as confirmed by PAYPAL.
Moorcroft say they will put the account on hold for 2 weeks - but how do I resolve this?
Anyone with previous experience of this please as I am not sure how to move forward ----it seems ticky to just ignore it.

Hello @Mazzeratti31,
Welcome to the PayPal Community Forum! I'm sorry to hear you've run into some confusion with a recent letter you've received. Thank you for letting us know you've reached out to PayPal support for assistance. Have you also reached out to PayPal Credit to see if you have anything outstanding with them?
Best wishes!

I also had this on 2 Dec 23. When I spoke to Moorcroft they wanted all my personal details and would offer nothing in return up front without them. The letter was to an old address of 10 years ago, PayPal have my new address so I think clearly a scam. I have had no PayPal debt and currently in credit. Eventually in the chat with Moorcroft the case was closed and I should take up with PayPal!
Shame on Moorcroft for not weeding out scams.
