Hi all. I received a notification from PayPal that someone sent me an invoice to make a payment of USD 500 for purchasing a anti virus software which I didn't make. Could I just leave it like that with out paying or how do I cancel or report this?

My wife received an email from PayPal saying they had canceled a suspicious request for money and requesting her to call the fraud dept and gave a phone number. We called and it sounded suspicious so we hung up. Then logged into her PayPal account and the same message and phone number appears in her account.

Received two emails yesterday from requesting payment from a Sylvia [removed] and Bitcoin that I needed to pay invoices amount of $489.43. If I wished to cancel the order and payment, I was to call [Removed. Phone #s not permitted] I did call the number thinking it was Paypal, but when an east Indian man answered, I asked what company this was and he hung up. The billing request was from Ms. [removed] and the Bitcoin charge information stated it was canceled. Very suspicious!
I can provide all email notifications, if need be.
I since have change my password and security questions.

Scam emails.
Scammers harvest email addresses hoping that some of those email addresses are linked to an open Paypal account.
The unsuspecting recipient is given a fake Paypal phone number in the 'notes' section added by the scammer.
If you did call that number (DO NOT) to query the transaction the scammer tells you that they need to access your computer / Paypal account to cancel that transaction for you.
They will then hack your computer or Paypal account.
Paypal never put phone numbers on emails or in money requests/invoices, they tell you to contact them via help/contact bottom of their website pages.
Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

I received an invoice from a PayPal logo (fraud) I called PaPal so I thought from the phone number on the receipt for a purchase I did not make. I realised after a few minutes this was a scam, so I hung up to google PayPal contact info, a [removed] for PayPal The guy was very helpful but a change of channels happened and the scammer was on the line, but I did not catch the change until he asked me to do the same thing that triggered me to know he was a scammer. To make a long story short he was able to steal about $800 from my account that was attached to my cash app. I called for help and they broke through your firewall and was able to do this and get away with it.

NEVER google for paypals number, scammers input scam numbers that come up in paypal search.
Paypal always tell you to ONLY use the number on their website by clicking on help/contact bottom of their web pages.
You obviously phoned a scam paypal phone number and NOT paypals.
