Received invoice from one seller which I didn't make any purchase. Is it a scam?

Hi all. I received a notification from PayPal that someone sent me an invoice to make a payment of USD 500 for purchasing a anti virus software which I didn't make. Could I just leave it like that with out paying or how do I cancel or report this?

Yeah lots going around.

Scammers that harvest email addresses and then send out loads of estimates or invoices hoping that some of those email addresses are linked to paypal accounts and the unsuspecting recipient may pay it by accident.

Hopefully will time out at some point if there is no cancel option.

As long as you don't accept it then no payment is collected.

Advice is voluntary.
Kudos / Solution appreciated.

Hi, I was stupid enough to fall for this scam and accepted the estimate offer. Is there a way of clearing this? I’ve tried to find a way of contacting PayPal and I can’t seem to succeed….

These are scams and many of them are going around. Never click on anything on the emails. Go directly to the app or login to your account on a web browser. You can't cancel these from the app but you can using the web browser. I get them often. It seems like there isn't a way to permanently stop getting them. I would definitely change my login information. Watch for any transactions on your PayPal account and any other accounts you have linked to your PayPal account. If you have had money taken out I would call your bank and let them know. They will close the said account and issue you a different card with a different account number. Phishing messages often begin with impersonal greetings. “Dear user” or “Hello, PayPal member” are definitely suspect. Messages from PayPal will always use the full name listed in your PayPal account. This website might help you in the future. https://www.comparitech.com/identity-theft-protection/paypal-scams/

I received an email from someone that I don't recognize. They are requesting a payment, but I don't know what it is for. It came from Pay Pal, but I don't have any idea who she is or any way to contact her and I don't recognize the transaction.

The same thing happened to me today, I bet it's from the same person. I started a chat w/a representative to report it and declined the request.

This request was from a Sandra [removed]. There was no explanation, only a request for money.

Same thing happened to me this morning. Random unfamiliar name, no actual info in the note section. I canceled the request and did a little research- sounds like this is a current scam.

I received a similar request for $1399 from a Carole [removed]. How do I decline it

My first one was from Linda [removed] and I got a second one from Margaret [removed] with a super spammy message that there is suspicious activity on my account.

You can decline them by going to the request and clicking cancel.
