Scammed by G2A seller. Paypal found in favor of seller

I got scammed by a G2A seller who provided used software keys to me for MS Office and Windows. I filed a dispute with Paypal, but they found in favor of G2A because according to the email I received "This decision was made because we received shipment tracking from the seller confirming that the item was delivered." This is impossible as there was no item to ship, and even if there was the issue is the software is not usable due to the activation keys being wrong, as I showed them in the screenshots when I filed the dispute.

The dispute still shows as being open and "under review".

Where do I go from here? Do I have to accept that PayPal is not safe and just take the loss, or can I appeal because their conclusion is wrong possibly due to the seller providing fraudulent info to PayPal?

For virtual transactions ''delivery'' means that they gave paypal adequate proof they sent the item in an email etc.

So if the seller can prove delivery you won't be covered as they don't cover virtual items for ''significantly other than as described''.

If you funded your paypal payment via a credit card you could try a chargeback?

I found it odd that they said they were  provided with "shipment tracking" but I guess they just cut/paste this for all disputes. It also seems extremely easy to use PayPal to scam if all you have to do as a seller is provide a fake key which could be any random string of numbers and letters the seller makes up and Paypal will find in your favor since the "item was delivered". I just wish I hadn't wasted my time opening the dispute and providing screenshots that were likely not even looked at for a second.

I used a debit card for the PayPal transaction which according to my bank website can be used to dispute a transaction which I guess is where I'm at now. I've already wasted a few weeks trying to get a refund through G2A and PayPal so hopefully it won't be too late.

I'm going thru the same exact situation. Thankfully for me its on $23 but its the fact that paypal isn't protecting the purchaser.

The bank refunded, but Paypal punished me by locking my account, making me send a statement as to why I complained to the bank, and unlinked all my bank accounts so I have to re-add them if I want to keep using their service. I haven't bothered doing that yet and have been avoiding using PayPal altogether since the issues.

I'm glad you received a refund. Makes me feel like paypal has become a scammer. I haven't hone to the bank yet, but I won't use paypal in the future.

I sent the CEO Alex Chriss a message about scams & how paypal is siding with the seller rather than the buyer. Hopefully I get a response
