Temu set up automatic payment without my consent

I would like to know if anyone has had the same issue as I've recently had? I used temu for the first time and used PayPal as a method of payment. Temu then sent me one of their standard marketing voucher offers, so l clicked on to have a look. As is usual with most of us, I got carried away browsing, and tried to put a camara into my basket. Then, after clicking on one of the options, I managed to order the camara and purchase some vouchers! I think I accidentally clicked on the purchase now option instead of putting it into my basket. At no point was I was asked for any PayPal passwords prior to purchasing. They also set up an automatic payment option on my paypal account. How and why were they allowed to set up the automatic payment system and take money from my bank account to put credit onto my temu account. It's quite disturbing that they can do this so easily. Is it another con that's similar to the one where you have to opt out of an agreement or they will automatically take out money for a new subscription. These options should be the other way around! If we want to renew the subscription or purchase again, it should be us that opt for it, not the seller.

I had the same happen to me twice with PayPal. The 1st time it was for software to recover lost photos on an iPhone, the software didn't work so I requested a refund through PayPal and they refused and then a month later I was charged again as a repeat subscription that I did not consent to. PayPal did not refund that either. Just today, I received a defective pillow from Derila (check TrustPilot reviews on this scam company). I was reading other 1 star reviews after I had left my 1 star review and noticed someone else complaining they had been charged for a subscription fee on a pillow. It was not in the billing section of PayPal either and I only found an active payment when I went to make a complaint against Derila. I think I will stick to Amazon in future for any online purchases as they still have a decent returns policy.

Yes, the same thing just happened to me. I purchased something on Temu and paid for it using PayPal. I then went to purchase another product the next day thinking I was going to get the advertised discount price. I clicked on the orange "One-Click Pay Ship Together" button instead of the "Add to Cart" button. The whole transaction was finalised without me authorising any payment. There seems to be nowhere in PayPal to prevent this from happening. However, I clicked on my Profile in Temu and selected "Payment Methods" from the left-hand menu. Note: If you just hover over your Profile it does not display this option in the drop-down menu. PayPal appeared as my payment method and I clicked on "Remove". After numerous prompts to change my mind I was finally able to remove it.

The next time I buy something I will check that it is not automatically giving them access to my PayPal account.

Temu Set me up for automatic payment through my PayPal account without my consent. I knew nothing about this. When I was scrolling through some of the items I clicked on one and the next thing I know I was being charged for it. It did not ask me for my PayPal password or nothing. This is deceptive.

I am deeply troubled by a recent experience that has raised serious concerns about the security protocols of both Temu and PayPal. Incident Overview: Initial Purchase: I made a legitimate purchase of two items on Temu and was awaiting their delivery. Unauthorized Transaction: Within 24 hours, I noticed an unauthorized charge of $246 on my Wells Fargo account. This charge was from a different seller on Temu, offering similar items, which I did not order or authorize. Lack of Security Measures: The transaction was processed without any prompts for payment or address confirmation. PayPal's expected security protocols, such as two-factor authentication, were notably absent, allowing the transaction to proceed without my consent. Response from Temu: Cancellation Attempt: Upon discovering the unauthorized charge, I attempted to cancel the order. Temu informed me that cancellation was not possible until after I received the items. Return Process: After receiving the unsolicited items, I contacted Temu to arrange a return. Surprisingly, they advised me to keep the items instead of facilitating a return, which is highly irregular for transactions of this nature. Concerns Raised: Security Breach: The absence of standard security checks during the transaction process suggests a potential breach in PayPal's security measures, raising questions about their ability to protect user accounts from unauthorized access. Questionable Practices: Temu's handling of the situation, particularly their advice to keep unsolicited items, is unconventional and raises concerns about their transaction practices and customer service protocols. Call to Action: This experience highlights the need for immediate review and enhancement of security measures by both PayPal and Temu to prevent unauthorized transactions and protect consumers. I urge both companies to investigate this incident thoroughly and implement necessary safeguards to restore user trust and ensure the integrity of their platforms.

Yes, I too was a victim. I never gave them permission to go in and seize money for any order I did not place. SIMPLY STATED, MAKE SURE YOU ONLY TIE YOUR PAYPAL ACCOUNT TO A CREDIT CARD. SECOND, KNOW WHAT I HAVE EXPERIENCES AND LEARN FROM IT. I AM STILL FIGGTING TO GET $1069 RETURNED BACK TO ME. ALSO UNDERSTAND, I WAS NOT PROTECTED BY PAYPAL AND FILING A CLAIM. RULES SEEM TO BE DIFFERENT FOR BUSINESSES AND CUSTOMERS. IN MY CASE, SOMETHING CAUSED MY SHOPPING CART TO DROP. WHEN TEMU STATES YOU CAN LEAVE ITEMS IN YOUR SHOPPING CART AND THEY WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN THE PRICE DROPS, THEY DON'T TELL YOU THEY HAVE GLITCHES WHETHER BY DESIGN OR LEGITIMATE, THAT WITH THE AUTOMATIC PAYMENT THEY SET UP, ALLOWS THEM DIRECT ACCESS TO YOUR BANK ACCOUNT. I will add more but I will just state, before you hit PayPal on a TEMU purchase, explore the page before you click. If on a mobile device, remove your thumbs from in front of your screen and notice every piece of info on the screen. I am not done figuring all of this out, but I think I have FOUND some problems that may trigger this and it could even be by faulty design. Additionally, is there anyone on here who is willing to state what financial institution they used, if they used a debit card TIED to PayPal, if PayPal successfully protected their assets and ruled in their favor, if they were denied by PayPal, if they refused delivery of merchandise as instructed by TEMU, if Temu has the merchandise back and because of filing a financial dispute, Temu blocked all communication involving the effected merchandise, and if you were successful, how long it took to get your refund back? I haven't slept in months. Thanks
