Unauthorized payment to Meta Platforms (Facebook ireland) and Paypal denied dispute

SSo today suddenly I had two unauthorized automatic payments to Meta Platforms INC (email says Facebook ireland???) amounting to $354.72! I checked my Facebook account and there were NO activities logged.

It's no small sum and when I raised a dispute to PAYPAL, PAYPAL denied the dispute and deemed it legit (within an hour). Help! how can I resolve this???

@PayPal_JonK When this company called Meta Platforms Inc withdrew money (about350)  from my account I turned everything upside down in my own FB account and anything related, but there was no receipt whatsoever, not of a subscription, transaction or anything. And I do know where to look.

I mailed Meta/Facebook about it: no answer whatsoever. The telephone number on the page of the company calling itself Meta Platforms Inc was not valid. I reported the problem as an Unauthorized Dispute through PayPal: denied. There was nothing to be found on my Paypal Billing Agreements and Subscriptions page either.

The suggestion to contact the vendor has, on this forum, again and again proven not to work.

The only conclusion I can draw, also because of the similarity in the amounts withdrawn in other cases, is that some scammer has managed to find a loophole in Paypal to get these withdrawals approved.

The answers from moderators I have seen coming by until now have been unhelpful. I would appreciate it if you can look into this case deeper.

Thank you for the additional info @vanderwaa. I'm sorry to hear the merchant wasn't able to provide any assistance. If an unauthorized dispute with PayPal as already been denied, and the transaction was funded by a bank or credit card, you may want to reach out to your funding source to see what options may potentially be available.

My apologies for any inconvenience this has caused,

Hi @PayPal_JonK
Thanks! That's what I advise everybody in this topic: first go to your bank to block or reverse the payment.

Nobody in this topic seems to have been able to:
- reach Meta, inc
- successfully dispute the withdrawal with Paypal
- figure out a plausible cause for the withdrawal in the first place.

Had this come through on my paypal today requesting £300!!

Not sure how it's possible @vanderwaa based on what you've said?
I ended up creating a new FB profile a couple months ago, haven't add much information this time around compared to my old deactivated profile. So I am baffled as no how my paypal details have been accessed especially considering I've put no financial information into FB this time around.
Neither FB or Instagram come to think of it, considering both are owned by the same parties.

Just had 3 separate charges to my paypal on meta platform which doesn't even show on my fackbook activity since I am not even subscribed to any meta ads.
I have filed a dispute with Meta/FB and waiting reply.

I also disputed it with my bank. hopefully I get a refund of over $300 😞

Good news! There is a some hope for those with the same issue.
I've just had my amount refunded back to me!

So, the same as others, my original request to cancel was rejected. Automated process I am assuming.
The money hadn't yet been taken so I opened up a new case disputing the issue. I could see that the amount was apparently for an Ad, so I put through as dispute stating that I had no received this said advert.
Obvious I know, because I am disputing the payment but anyway, that was the process I went down.
It gave me the option for additional info & evidence if I had any. Wrote a whole spiel about how it is obvious it was a scam etc, so many others are having the same issue, as this thread shows.
Also that there was no consistent evidence of previous transactions to show that this could possibly be correct. It was just out of the blue.
Submitted screenshots from my FB showing no receipts of purchases & no financial info attached to my profile either.
During this time the £300 was taken from my bank account though!

Started this on the 13th Jan & the dispute said they'd give the seller until the 23rd Jan to respond & if there was no response in that time that I would be given my refund.
No response was given & I now have my refund.

I would highly recommend folk doing what @PayPal_JonK said & "check your Billing Agreements and Subscriptions to see if there's anything else there you do not recognize"

Saves something like this from possibly happening in the future.

I got a unauthorized payment to meta platforms as well $125.50 been made. I tried to dispute and instantly got rejected and said it was authorized payment. Paypal didn't even check on the payment. Went to the chat support but no Customer Service Agents are available at the moment.

I had money removed from my account and transferred via Metaform too. I tried a couple times, appealing twice after to get my money back and was denied every time, stating it was not unauthorized.  I’m so frustrated
