What is the email address that you should receive your payment confirmation email from?

I'm new here so please bear with me.
I'm expecting a payment from someone, and I've just received an email confirmation saying that the money's been taken from their account but won't go into my account until I send the item and email back the tracking number. The concerning thing here is the email that it was sent from was a gmail account. Can anyone confirm whether this is a scam payment from this person because its from a gmail account.

I understand you have questions regarding a possible payment and the email it came from. After reviewing the email provided, I can confirm it is not a PayPal email address. Please do not ship anything to the potential buyer until you can see the payment showing in your PayPal account. When you have a few moments, I also recommend referring to our Help Center to learn how to  spot and report a fake PayPal email or website.
