I have had the exact same experience, in Aug 22 I had 2 payments taken one for £47.99 the other for £42.99 I queried and they were refunded I cancelled all preapproved future payments then low and behold another 3 payments came out! This time it wa[Removed. Phone #s not permitted]5th Oct and £49.99 9th Oct! I have only just noticed as I no longer use my paypal yet Paypal have said the payment is not unauthorised.... Its ridiculous especially as the payment has gone up and I have no idea what it is for

On Saturday 20th May I had a email in the evening saying Digital River Ireland have taken £79.99 from my account,I thought it was a scam so I went to Paypal by my browser, then I saw in my account that the amount was going to be taken from my account for a service I never ordered or was aware of.I have had to delete all subscribed from 2018 Digital River as it seems if you have people you paid by paypal they can get money from you without your knowledge,I been in touch with Paypal and brought a case out and also my bank,I cannot afford to lose money for something I never ordered.

Digital river is an ecommerce payment company. They don't fraudulently take your money. They partner with companies like Samsung, Microsoft, razr, McAfee, avast, etc. If you buy from those websites, your charge may show up as from digital river. They also handle subscriptions. A lot of times what happens is people accept a free trial for a product, like anti virus, and forget to cancel and it auto renews. Be careful what you are accepting.

Check if you had a subscription set up.
Click on the profile tab (icon next to log out) > Click on payments third option along on the thick blue band top of page > "manage pre-approved payments.''

Yes I realised I had to email Digital River and then they said they do not deal with subscriptions but they sent two links to AVG and one was japanes and another was multi country,so I then realised I signed in as I forgot I registered with them, found the recent purchase of £19.99 in feb 2023 and the £79.99 was the full purchase of that which I forgot and never received an email.I clicked on refund and a chat box come up and I had to explain and they said they sent an email a month ago and also there is a part on the purchase about not renew automatically.I will get the money back if I closed paypal case against them they said,I had to do that and prove it by screenshot which I did not know how to do,but I carried the email to top of their email and it sent that way.I am telling you this so other people will be more aware than I was and have taken all payment details off of Paypal and have uninstalled AVG,I did notice the subscription was going to take more money next year automatically.

I understand this is a big company, but for the customer to access an account or identify which of their products was purchased was next to impossible. Is there any link that Paypal provide?

I've been charged AUD 59.13, which I disagreed for I have not used/activated the product. This recurring charge can only be cancelled by changing your debit card. come on now

This order number 784090533 - the product may be legit but the way they conduct business is fraudulent. Went to look at the email, yeah for sure they've got the download link and activation code. They even have a support email, but did I see the option to cancel from Paypal or the company? no.

Avoid the hassle, stay away from their products

I just had a charge from Digital River Ireland and wasn't sure where it came from.

After a bit of digging, I realised it is what nVidia GeForce NOW uses to bill you, so just posting here incase it helps jog someone else's memory.

I don't have a mobile phone, so I can't log in to PayPal. When my credit card expired, Avast told me to update my PayPal details, which I couldn't do. At the last moment, they offered a direct credit card payment option, which I chose. A few months later, Digital River began taking money from my PayPal account, because PayPal had meanwhile updated my card on their own initiative. So they won't let me access my account for my own security, but will hand over my money to any swindler who asks!

Contact Digital River for a refund of the duplicate payment.

Cards are auto updated as per link.

 https://www.paypal.com/nz/cshelp/article/why-did-paypal-automatically-update-the-expiration-date-on-...

If you have an active subscription that you set up on your paypal account then when Digital River apply for the funds Paypal will of course pay them for you as that is what a subscription allows. Not sure how Paypal are supposed to know you paid another way???

As for accessing your account you would need to contact customer services to help log in and then add a mobile phone to your account so you don't get locked out again.

Contact options for each countries Paypal customer services are accessed by clicking help/contact bottom left of Paypal pages.

1. Paypal phones (you can use the guest option if you can't log in).
2. Live chat is also randomly available.
3. You can send them a message, (during business hours you may also be able to message whilst logged out).
4. Have you considered contacting Customer Service via Facebook or Twitter?
You can send them a personal message from their Facebook or Twitter pages.
It's: https://www.facebook.com/PayPal and @AskPayPal for Twitter.

I paid a software licence using paypal and digital river. I requested a refund because the software was unusable. Plus according to the french law (i'm french and I believe the french law does apply to seller that operate in France, even tho they are not based in france.) customer have a 14 days period to get a refund after any internet purchase. (Unless it's a sealed product or stuff like this). Paypal denied my request and digital river too. Idc if they "look" legit they still refused to comply to the law of a country in which they operate
